The 1976 Formula One season was the 27th season of Formula One. Niki Lauda and Ferrari returned as reigning champions to defend their titles, but he would be joined at the Prancing Horse by Jody Scheckter. A championship round was held in Japan for the first time, with the Fuji Speedway playing host to the Japanese Grand Prix.
