- 1 Due to the FIA not deeming them to have properly purchased the former Fondmetal team's entry, Andrea Moda were excluded from both the South African and Brazilian Grands Prix.
- 2 After failing to qualify for the South African Grand Prix by over 4 seconds Giovanna Amati was sacked by Brabham and replaced by 1991 McLaren test driver Roberto Moreno.
- 3 Roberto Guerrero's sponsors failed to pay the March team and he was replaced by Kazuki Fushida for the Pacific Grand Prix.
- 4 Jon Beekhuis replaced Kazuki Fushida after the Pacific Grand Prix as the Japanese driver was only paid to drive for his home race.
