The 1992 Formula One season was the 43rd Formula One World Championship season. This season was notable as it was the first year without 1989 World Champion Ayrton Senna on the grid since his rookie year, after the Brazilian moved to CART's Team Penske.
Entry List
Notes
- 1 Due to the FIA not deeming them to have properly purchased the former Fondmetal team's entry, Andrea Moda were excluded from both the South African and Brazilian Grands Prix.
- 2 After failing to qualify for the South African Grand Prix by over 4 seconds Giovanna Amati was sacked by Brabham and replaced by 1991 McLaren test driver Roberto Moreno.
- 3 Roberto Guerrero's sponsors failed to pay the March team and he was replaced by Kazuki Fushida for the Pacific Grand Prix.
- 4 Jon Beekhuis replaced Kazuki Fushida after the Pacific Grand Prix as the Japanese driver was only paid to drive for his home race.
- 5 After failing to qualify for the Spanish Grand Prix, Isabella Noriko was replaced by Arie Luyendyk, the Dutchman being replaced at March by Kazuki Fushida.
- 6 The Brabham team failed to pay Roberto Moreno so he left the team after the Monaco Grand Prix and was replaced by Canadian rookie Paul Tracy.
- 7 Andrea Moda failed to participate in either the Canadian or French Grands Prix; the former due to failing to pay Judd for engines and their subsequent withholding and the latter due to the team being caught up in a blockade caused by French truck drivers.
- 8 Jon Beekhuis was replaced by Willy T. Ribbs for the Canadian Grand Prix in a publicity stunt.
- 9 Laurent Aïello departed the Andrea Moda team after frustration from their no-show at his home Grand Prix in France. He would be replaced by Briton Perry McCarthy.
- 10 Jon Beekhuis was replaced by Tom Douglas for the British Grand Prix.
- 11 Paul Tracy was handed a 2 race ban after causing a collision with Michael Schumacher at the British Grand Prix and was replaced by Geoff Brabham.
