Notes
- 1 Eddie Irvine was forced to withdraw from the Austrian Grand Prix after suffering from abdominal pains caused by a bout of appendicitis. He was replaced by Jaguar tester Luciano Burti.
- 2 John Zimmer was sacked by Minardi for a lack of sponsorship funds and replaced with free agent Pedro Paulo Diniz.
- 3 Stephane Sarrazin was benched for the Belgian Grand Prix and replaced by GT driver Christophe Bouchut
