The 2003 Formula One season was the 54th season of Formula One. The season marked the beginning of the mid-2000s Formula One crisis, with the cancellations of the French Grand Prix being the first signs of trouble. Despite this, the racing proved to be more competitive than the previous season; defending champions Michael Schumacher and Ferrari found their astonishing advantage had been dramatically reduced in the off-season. The season would also be the first in the sport's history to feature only 10 teams, as Prost Grand Prix folded in late 2002.
