Andy Linden
Andrew "Andy" Linden (born 5 April 1922 in Brownsville, died 10 February 1987 in Torrance) was an American racing driver. He competed in 8 Indianapolis 500s during the 1950s, starting 7 while it was a Formula 1 race. At 29 years old, he was the youngest driver to score points in Formula 1 for 12 seconds until Bobby Ball crossed the line at the 1951 Indianapolis 500.
Linden made his AAA début at Indianapolis in 1950, but failed to qualify. He would eventually start 60 races, scoring four podiums. Despite his modest results, he managed to finish fifth in the championship in 1955 following his sixth place rsult at Indianapolis as well as seven other top-ten finishes, including a third place at Springfield.
His career ended in 1957, when a crash saw a piece of his helmet break into his skull paralysing Linden.
