The 1958 Formula One season was the ninth in the history of Formula One. Jack Brabham, O.S.C.A. and British Commonwealth Motorsport Association entered the season as defending champions and remained competitive, but atrocious reliability for its lead cars left the increasingly competitive Ferraris to take five race wins and the constructors' and entrants' championships. In his first season for Ferrari, Peter Collins took three of the team's wins and took his maiden world title. This season was darkened by the death of Italian driver Giulio Cabianca in an accident at the French Grand Prix.
