Peter John Collins (born 6 November 1931 in Kidderminster) is a British former racing driver. A Formula 3 prodigy who made his racing début aged 17, he first appeared in Formula 1 in 1953 for Anglo Racing Engineering, then for Gordini when it became clear he was an exciting future prospect. Scoring his first podium in 1954, Collins was soon recruited to the government funded B.C.M.A. team in 1955. There, he became one of the quickest drivers in the field, though hampered by chronic unreliability. When he did finish, he was rarely off the podium, and he was the runner-up in the hotly-contested 1955 championship at the age of 23.
