Emilio Giuseppe "Nino" Farina (born 30 October 1906 in Turin, died 30 June 1966 in Chambéry) was an Italian racing driver who competed in Formula 1 from 1950 onwards. A very volatile pre-War driver, Farina came into his own after 1946, winning many open-wheel and sportscar races for Ferrari. Competing exclusively for Alfa Romeo in the World Championship, he won the 1950 and 1951 world titles as well as six Grands Prix, 15 podiums, 9 pole positions and 9 fastest laps. Following the sudden withdrawal of Alfa Romeo in 1956, he retired from motorsport at the age of 49. He died in 1966 in a road accident.
