David Hampshire
David Alan Hampshire (born 29 December 1917 in Mickleover, died 25 August 1990 in Newton Solney) was a British racing driver. A competent British club driver, his first experiences in Formula 1 for EXTRAS prompted him to launch his own racing team, Hampshire Racing Alliance, which later extended to entering cars for Roy Salvadori. Competing for many years under this banner, he became a popular figure in the paddock, though he was never consistently successful. He proved to be a dependable hand, very rarely crashing and reliably finishing races of high attrition. This earned him a total of 12 points including a second place in the 1955 French Grand Prix, overshadowed by Alberto Ascari's first and only victory.
