The European Grand Prix was a race on the Formula One calendar. The European Grand Prix is usually held when a European country is already holding another Grand Prix.
It was first held in 1987 on the Dijon-Prenois circuit. Until 1977, the European Grand Prix was not an actual race, but an honorific title awarded by the FIA to one Grand Prix in Europe. This tradition returned as a one-off in 2019, when the Cyprus Grands Prix were designated the European Grands Prix to celebrate Cyprus joining the European Union 15 years before.
