The 2017 Formula 1 Rejects World Race Series season was the 8th season of F1RWRS competition. Defending Drivers' Champion Rhys Davies initially retired from F1RWRS competition at the conclusion of the 2016 season to switch to sportscars, signing with Audi to race in the 2017 ACO Le Mans Cup, however the collapse of the Le Mans Cup saw Davies return to complete the last five races for DScity Voeckler Renault.

- 1 - Kamaha will run Audi engines but they will be rebadged as Suzuki engines for commercial reasons.
- 2 - Simpson were renamed Dacia for commercial reasons, which the Renault engines being renamed too.
- 3 - Prospec were wound up before the season started and Rob Lomas Racing were given their slot.
- 4 - PORE were granted special dispensation to run a fifth driver, due to Alessandro Lucarelli receiving a race ban at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Season Review
Testing
The two official F1RWRS pre-season tests took place at Jerez on the 27th-28th January, and at Estoril on the 10th-11th February. With the omission of a third test, teams were encourage to organise their own pre-season tests with the majority of the teams choosing home locations. A Young Drivers Test was held later in the season at Monza.

Pre-Qualifying Cup
The Pre-Qualifying Cup was a competition for teams and drivers competing in Pre-Qualifying throughout the season. Pre-Qualifying pole sitters would receive 10 points, second place 8, third place 6, fourth 5 and so on, until 8th position. For teams, there was monetary gain at stake with the Commission handing out prize money.
