Jordan Davies
Jordan Davies (born February 19, 1995) is a British racing driver from Monmouth, Wales, currently racing for Haas F1 in Formula One. He is the younger cousin of F1RWRS driver James Davies. He is a part of the Best In The World young driver program since early 2016.
Career
Davies' career as a racing driver began in 2006, when he started his first officially sanctioned kart race. Though he would win his first 4 races, throughout his karting career, he struggled to establish himself amongst his peers. Still, by 2013, he was given a shot at proving his worth in British Formula Ford. Over 2 campaigns, Jordan again looked fairly ordinary - though he did improve from 2 podiums in 2013 to 10 in 2014, he did not compete for the championship and did not win a race. According to an interview with his cousin, James, Jordan did not have the best of equipment in karting or in Formula Ford, which could explain his lack of results.
2015
For 2015, Jordan secured another move up the racing ladder to West Cliff Racing's F3RWRS outfit. It is believed that his cousin's prior status as part of Anglo-Manx Racing's championship-winning effort in 2012 had a role in securing his place at the team. Regardless, Jordan immediately impressed, qualifying and finishing 2nd on his debut, before winning his second race from pole - his first win since he graduated from karting. 4 further 4th place finishes ensured he stayed right at the head of the championship fight.
After this, however Jordan's luck seemed to run out. He spun off from what would've been a sure podium in the first race at Brands Hatch, and then was blocked in qualifying the next two races. He then retired once more from a podium position in the second race at the Norising with an engine failure. This ended at the Spa SuperPrix, however, as Jordan took a commanding victory from pole position. He then secured pole position at the next round at Monza, but retired on the first lap after making contact with Quentin Reatherson. He bounced back in race two with a podium finish, harrying championship rival Dan Greenlaw the whole race.
It was around this time that Brett Johnson, team principal of Aston Martin's F2RWRS team got in contact with Davies about a drive at the team in F2RWRS for 2016. Jordan accepted the offer, and moved on to Fuji hoping to close off his sole F3RWRS season in style. He did well to win the first race from pole position, but encountered difficulties in race two which meant he would enter the all-important double-points Surfers SuperPrix 3rd in the championship. Jordan showed great pace in the race, setting the fastest lap, but it was clear that the pressure had gotten to him, and he made countless errors and mistakes which eliminated him from championship contention.
Nonetheless, as a result of the chaotic F2RWRS American Grand Prix, Jordan was able to make his debut at his new team early. He performed well, and could have been a contender for victory, but was one of many drivers who crashed out. Nonetheless, Jordan's impressive results attracted the attention of Kay Lon, and in early 2016, Jordan became a part of the Best In The World driver academy.
