Report:
Motorsport is always a dangerous thing: everyone taking part in a Formula 1 race is aware of that fact. However, today we were painfully reminded of that fact when Stoffel Vandoorne suffered a broken leg in a tragic accident after the suspension of his Haas-Judd broke under braking.
Outside of that tragic accident, a fun race unfolded at first: Diego Torrente, who absolutely scorched the Earth in qualifying, had a brilliant fight with the two Caterham drivers, which first saw him fight with Lewis Hamilton who jumped him at the start and Sebastian Vettel, who was the main rival after the stops.
However, said rival ended up ruining his race, running into the Spaniard and taking him out. This, combined with a later error by Vettel, left Hamilton with the victory. Sauber were again well behind the two works-supported efforts, but Vettel’s penalty for the DAT accident meant that Maldonado’s championship lead increased.
Teams struggled with reliability and driver errors, which means that some minor teams had their chance at scoring points. BR Mansell and Red Bull Racing took advantage of that chance, having a classic fight for ninth which ended with Pascal Wehrlein finishing ahead of Artem Markelov.

Fastest Lap:
Sebastian Vettel – 2:08.147
Infinite Improbability Drive Of The Race:
Pascal Wehrlein – even though Red Bull’s advantage lies in their engine power, he scored points.
Reject Of The Race:
Sebastian Vettel – had a major chance to get even closer to Maldonado’s lead, but made lots of avoidable mistakes.
