Report:

Alain Prost demonstrated his immense talent by taking his first win of the season.

The world championships of 1987 are being fiercly contested by the teams and it’s only getting more extreme, as F1 makes a two-race trip to the Second World. Cassidy’s lead of 10 points is under peril, as his teammate and the two Lotus drivers look to get closer to the American superstar. The Hungaroring was set to be the stage of a fierce fight.

However, the truth is on the track and the truth spelled the following seven letters: F-E-R-R-A-R-I. The selected frew Italian fans traveling to the lovely city of Budapest were not disappointed. The two Ferrari drivers profited from another Williams double retirement to sandwich Berger on the podium. Alain Prost went on to take his first win of the season, a very pleasing development for Prost and Ferrari.

Lotus-Honda were mightly struggling in qualifying and the early part of the race. Gauthier nearly going to the podium in the end betrays the aerodynamic weaknesses of the Lotus 99T. Derek Warwick especially struggled mightly, ending nearly a lap down on his own teammate. Gauthier’s stock must have risen after that drive, even with his world title in mind.

Chris Dagnall continues his breathtaking season, he scores a valueable result for Arrows with sixth. Martin Brundle must be disappointed, his best drive of the season went unrewarded, the Tyrrell not losing out on the tight circuit despite lacking a turbo engine. This was proven true when Brundle beat Nicchi home. A fun, but meaningless battle went on between the two Larrousses and Nicola Larini
