The Hungaroring is one of the most serious challenge in contemporary Formula 1. The low-angle rear wings of the current aerodynamic ruleset makes it a real challenge to keep control of your race car. This aids the truly talented drivers, however, as Jules Bianchi was indeed able to split the two Caterham-Judds.

At the actual race on Saturday, Precision was the team to beat. When Lewis Hamilton’s Judd engine expired, the team was able to run in a 1-2 position, which is how they ended up in the end: Jules Bianchi made up 14 points on championship leader Sebastian Vettel from Germany, giving us hope for a title fight.

Sebastian Vettel made a couple of driver errors but also lacked more pace than his superior car should allow him to lack. He dropped like a rock, having to fight with the legendary Daniel Melrose for the last two points positions, the Australian coming up victorious, giving Holden more points and price money to work with.

A couple of surprises were found outside the podium: whilst, for example, Salvatore Miccoli’s usual fourth place is not all that impressive, especially after being outdone by Calinetic for third, Bourdais overcoming his weak car to grab four championship points sure was. Bottas also forced the Williams into the points.
