Formula 1

1976

Oppitzhauser made his Formula One debut driving ÖASC Racing Team's Renzo powered March chassis, entering the Austrian, Dutch and Italian Grands Prix. Despite a wealth of experience in sports cars, Oppitzhauser failed to get up to speed with single seaters and failed to pre-qualify on all three occasions.

Later life

Following his brief Formula One venture, Oppitzhauser made a sidestep into the world of harness racing before a return to touring cars and single make GT racing in the mid-1980s.

Oppitzhauser now operates the Autohaus Oppitzhauser, a specialist Renault, Jeep and Lancia dealer - in his hometown of Bruck.
