Lance Noel Macklin (born 2 September 1919 in Kensington, died 29 August 2002 in Tenterden) was a British racing driver. Born into a rich family, Macklin became a racing driver after World War II. Competing occasionally in Le Mans and the Targa Florio, he turned to Formula 1 in 1951. Competing for Scuderia Platé-Varzi, Johnny Claes and Balkan Eagle, he then turned to the Irish Reatherson Racing Developments, where he stayed for three years. Showing a lot of pace, but never delivering on it, Macklin instead developed a reputation for crashing often. In 1955, after his involvement in the Le Mans disaster, another fatal crash in Dundrod, and four consecutive retirements in F1, he decided to end his racing career.
