The Italian Formula One Championship was a Formula One championship run parallel to the FIA World Championship by the organisers of the Bologna Motor Show in order to add prestige to the Formula 1 Indoor Trophy held annually at the event, as well as to celebrate the achievements of Italian Formula One constructors. It ran for nine seasons from 1988 to 1996, and was dominated by Ferrari for the overwhelming majority of that time. Each Championship season was made up of six events: four from in and around Italy (the San Marino Grand Prix, Italian Grand Prix and Indoor Trophy, in addition to the Monaco Grand Prix), as well as two other Grands Prix from the European season. Across the nine seasons, fifteen constructors were represented by 54 drivers.
