Luca Pacchiarini (born ??/??/???? in Italy) is a retired Italian racing driver known for being the first and most successful independent driver in the F1RWRS.

Formula One

Pacchiarini was named as AT&T Williams test driver for the 2009 season.

F1RWRS Career

2010

Luca Pacchiarini joined the F1RWRS with his own self-run team, Pacchia-Coswojuddhartlambo. Luca built the car from scratch and decided to join the F1RWRS after a failed entry in Formula One. Luca also decided to drive for Pacchia, becoming the first driver-owner in the sport. The 2010 F1RWRS season was Luca's first and most successful season. Luca took his first podium after only two races, a second place at the 2010 Luxembourg Grand Prix. Pacchiarini finished second in three races that season, coming within four seconds of the leader at every race. Luca's performances earned him sixth place in the Drivers' Championship for that season.

2011

After his successful 2010 season, Luca Pacchiarini decided to field two cars for the 2011 F1RWRS season. Pacchia hired Ashley Watkinson to drive in the second car. However, hiring Watkinson would turn out to be a mistake for Pacchia. Watkinson's only points finish for Pacchia was at the 2011 F1RWRS Belgian Grand Prix. Watkinson also directly criticized Pacchiarini, claiming that the team had only brought enough tyres for Luca to drive. Watkinson departed from Pacchia after the 2011 English Grand Prix. He was replaced by Dougal Kerr, 34-year-old white van champion from the United Kingdom. To add to these dramas, Pacchiarini had a disappointing year; his best finish was a third place at the 2011 Luxembourg Grand Prix. He would finish twenty-third in the Drivers' Championship that year. Kerr failed to qualify for a single race during 2011.

2012

Luca Pacchiarini was desperate for results for the 2012 F1RWRS season but the season was almost a complete disaster. Pacchiarini failed to qualify for half the races that year. Pacchia also ran Nicolas Steele for part of the season but Steele only qualified for one race before leaving for Team Calinetic. It quickly became apparent that Pacchia was running out of money. However, Luca Pacchiarini finally took a victory for Pacchia at the 2012 F1RWRS Chinese Grand Prix. The team was overjoyed but received news that the team would not be continuing for the 2013 F1RWRS season just a few weeks later. Pacchia did not want to adapt to the new rules for 2013 but it was a moot point as the team went bankrupt in January of 2013. It was a sad end to one of the F1RWRS original teams. Pacchia's collapse left Team Calinetic, Prospec and Kahama as the only original F1RWRS teams left (Calinetic would later collapse, so by 2014 Prospec and Kahama were the only original teams).
