Team Penske
Team Penske is an American motorsport team, most famous for their entries in IndyCar and NASCAR. The team was also entered in Formula One in the mid-1970s.
American Oval Racing
Team Penske won the IndyCar drivers titles in 2014 and 2016 - with Will Power and Simon Pagenaud respectively.
The team is currently running four cars in the 2019 Airbnb IndyCar Series for former champions Simon Pagenaud, Will Power, former AutoReject World Series world champion Thomas de Bock and James Hinchcliffe.
Formula One
Penske had a fairly unremarkable run in Formula One in the mid-to-late 1970s.
In 1976 the team ran American driver Brett Lunger and German Hans-Joachim Stuck for the whole season. Coupling a slow chassis with the unreliable Alfa Romeo engines - which Roger Penske described as "lumps of Italian pig iron" - the team failed to score any points all season, with Lunger recording the team's best result with a ninth place at the Spanish Grand Prix.
The following year, Penske unexpectedly remained in the sport - keeping the outdated PC4 chassis but ditching the Alfa Romeo units for older Ford Cosworth lumps. Brett Lunger remained with the team but this time the American was joined by occasional point scorer Henri Pescarolo.
