Formula One
2008
The Mobil 1 Prodrive F1 Team made their Formula One debut in 2008, running the McLaren MP4-22 that was used by McLaren in 2007. The team's lineup was long-term Mercedes-Benz factory driver Rubens Barrichello and DTM runner-up Bruno Spengler. The team were one of the slower outfits - partly due to the fact they were using year-old machinery at this stage - and Barrichello was the only person to score points for the team in this maiden season. Barrichello's meagre haul of five points was at least enough for Prodrive to secure tenth in the constructor's standings - beating Force India and Super Aguri.
2009
2009 saw Prodrive bring their own car to the grid for the first time with the Prodrive ProF1-09. The team kept the same lineup as before and Barrichello racked up two points finishes in the early parts of the season. However, Prodrive decided to replace Barrichello with pay driver Darren Older Jr. at the Turkish Grand Prix when financial issues began to rear their ugly head - with a major crisis beginning to effect several teams up and down the paddock. Older Jr. was replaced himself by young German Nico Hülkenberg at the Belgian Grand Prix - which ended up being Prodrive's final race before filing for administration, just seven races after Brawn GP had met a similar fate.
