Rudi Fischer

Rudolf "Rudi" Fischer (born 19 April 1912 in Stuttgart, Germany, died 30 December 1976 in Luzern) was a Swiss racing driver. Founder of Écurie Espadon, Fischer began racing in around 1947. He finished second in the 1948 West Swiss GP. His would-be F1 début came at the 1950 Swiss GP, but his car was not ready. From 1951 onwards, regular podiums in non-championships allowed him to compete in a few championship races, first in a Ferrari 212, then in a Ferrari 500, with which he scored two podiums in 1952, finishing fourth in the championships. After two Formula 2 victories, he retired from international racing at 40 years old.
