The 1991 International Formula 3000 season was the 4th International Formula 3000 season.
This season was marred by controversy as the second-placed team Spirit-TOM'S Motorsport and its two drivers, original champion Johnny Herbert and his teammate Alain Menu were disqualified from the championship after it was found that the team had been running an illegal car for most of the season. Spirit-TOM'S Motorsport were subsequently banned from the championship.

The Le Mans round was stopped on Lap 27 after an accident that resulted in life-threatening injuries for Japanese driver Ukyo Katayama. Half points were awarded for the race.
