The 2000 Formula One season was the 51st season of the Formula One World Championship. Rhys Davies claimed his first world championship in convincing fashion, with BMW-Williams sealing the Constructor's Championship.

Exiting Formula One
- Esteban Tuero and Shinji Nakano announced their retirements from Formula One at the end of the 1999.
- Riccardo Rosset announced his retirement from Formula One following the 1999 German Grand Prix, and would not return to contest the 2000 season
- Chris Dagnall also elected to retire, choosing not to sign a new contract with Jaguar.
- Marc Gene failed to find a drive for 2000 after contesting the 1999 season with Minardi

Mid-season changes
1 Geoff Donnelly injured himself before FP1 in Australia, and was forced to sit out the weekend. Test driver Evelyn Gomes stepped in.
