Revision as of 15:12, 18 February 2013
The 2015 F1RWRS United States Grand Prix was the sixth race in the 2015 F1RWRS season and the second of which to be held in North America.
Pre-Qualifying
Douglas Mann topped the session with a 1:21.865, sending the Foxdale Auto Racing Team to the qualifying session. The Autodynamics Grand Prix team somehow made it to the next session with Miko Fakkinen placing fourth and Damon Cannon 11th. Mecha Grand Prix also made it to the next session. Somehow, Boxtel Engineering did not make it to the qualifying session even though Jari Kekkonen placed 2nd, and the same went with Sunshine and Revolution Engineering DMS as well, with Daniel Martins fifth and Marie Simon sixth.
Qualifying
Pippa Mann took pole position for the second time this season. David Neuberg was less than a second behind joining her on the front row. Barii Mori somehow placed third on the grid in the Kamaha as well. Ben Fleet was 9th, Ron Mignolet was 12th, and the Gillet ENB cars were stuck at 19th and 20th for Aurelien Moll and Thomas De Bock respectively. Steven Mackintosh and Miko Fakkinen did not qualify.
Race
The race was mainly dominated by Mark Dagnall, who led for most of the race and beat everyone by more than a lap. It was obvious that it was due to Dagnall's driving abilities, and not due to the car, as Ron Mignolet was a distant 7th place. Rhys Davies was running well in second place for most of the race, until he binned the car near the end of the race. This handed the second podium spot to David Neuberg, who was once again surprising the paddock by giving MRT another podium finish. Pippa Mann was also there to give Aeroracing Engineering a good result, finishing third. Sammy Jones was finally able to compete with upstart teammate Rosco Vantini, and Jones placed fourth, while Vantini finished two laps down on Dagnall in 8th place. The Kamaha Motorsports of Barii Mori and Nicolas Steele finally finished a race, and both placed 5th and 6th respectively.
Elsewhere, at the start, somebody made contact with Barii Mori, causing multiple collisions which took out Aurelien Moll, Martin McFry, Saeed Al Faisal, Jean-Luc Schiller, and Damon Cannon, who was making his first start with the Autodynamics Grand Prix team. Unfortunately, Cannon received hand and wrist injuries in the crash and was ruled out of participating in the next race at Canada. ArrowTech-Acuri Autosport had an awful weekend since both cars were taken out due to collisions (Bosevic also binned the car on the first lap), but Rhys Davies was ultimately given ROTR for his accident costing him a podium position.
