Will Hoy
Will Hoy (born 2nd April 1952 in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire, died 19th December 2002 in Chelsea, London) was a British driver known for his exploits in touring car racing.
Career
After a number of years in the World Sportscar Championship, Hoy stepped into the World Touring Car Masters series in 1989 with the British independent Demon Tweeks team - with whom he'd take in a part season racing a Class C BMW M3 to little success.
Despite being fairly outgunned on the world stage due to his team's small stature, Hoy had performed reasonably well in the British championship for several teams which was enough for the works Toyota team Union Saver Developments to give him a chance for 1990. Hoy performed well with the team and despite not managing any wins in Class B finished the year sixth in class.
Hoy made the switch to Mazda in 1991 with Japanese outfit Team Taisan alongside sportscar racer Hideo Fukuyama. Hoy was a midfield runner in the Mazda 323F and scored some decent results early in the season.
Personal Life
Away from the racetrack, Hoy worked as a chartered surveyor and a television pundit for ITV once his active career ended. Hoy was diagnosed with a brain tumor in late 2002 whilst working as an advisor for Honda and died shortly after.
