Edvard Holm (born 22nd October 1986) is a Danish racing driver best known for making his debut in the AutoReject World Series at the age of 36, driving for the Simpson Jetstar Motorsports team alongside fellow rookie Emma Kickert on the series' comeback from the three-year ARWS hiatus. Prior to the signing, Holm's highest-level single-seater experience was in second-tier series (the GP2 Series and World Series by Renault), in which he performed moderately. Holm had also enjoyed some success driving sports prototypes and GT cars, as well as proving to be a reliable simulator driver for the Simpson team.
Junior Career
Thanks to a family fortune amassed through the Maersk shipping company, Holm was able to embark on a far longer junior career than most other drivers of the era. Between the ages of 16 and 18 (across the 2003, 2004 and 2005 seasons), Holm raced with some success in Danish Formula Ford. He progressed into German Formula Three, where he remained from 2006 until 2009. Thanks to his backing, he was able to escape the fate of more talented drivers like Joey Foster and bought his way into the GP2 Series for 2010. However, five full seasons and a knack for picking teams on their way out of the series meant that his best ever results were two sprint race podiums, four years apart. He made a sideways move into the declining World Series by Renault where he managed three race wins in the series' last three seasons and a best Championship finish of third against an extremely depleted field.
Sportscars
From 2018 onwards, Holm turned his attention to sportscar racing. Rather than racing full campaigns, he tended to enter only prestigious races that took his fancy while also marketing his services as a simulator driver for teams including Simpson Motorsports. For the 2020 season, he was to be their full-time simulator driver, only for the series itself to fold. Agreeing terms to race a full season for United Autosport in 2022, it looked as if Holm might be committing the rest of his career to GT racing. However, only one year on from that, he finally found himself in a top-tier single seater series for the first time.
AutoReject World Series
For the 2023 season, Simpson Jetstar Motorsports signed both of their test and simulator drivers from the 2020 season as race drivers for 2023: Holm and Emma Kickert, who had loyally travelled to Australia to race for the team in the meantime. For Holm, this was the culmination of a dream 20 years in the making.
