The provisional calendar was leaked during the German 500 with a record amount of 28 races with races being held in Italy, China and South Africa for the first time.

The new calendar saw the series vastly increase its international presence, returning to both the newly built Emerson Fittipaldi Speedway (a like-for-like reconstruction of the former Jacarepaguá oval) and Mexico City, as well as visiting France, the Netherlands and Singapore for the first time. Season Calendar

The new calendar saw the series vastly increase its international presence, returning to both the newly built Emerson Fittipaldi Speedway (a like-for-like reconstruction of the former Jacarepaguá oval) and Mexico City, as well as visiting France, the Netherlands and Singapore for the first time. The prevalence of foreign tracks saw the re-introduction of night races on road courses, not seen since Houston in 2006.
