The 1990 Italian Formula One Championship was the third season of the of Italian Formula One Championship. Reigning Drivers Champion Alex Caffi did not return to the grid, with his seat at Scuderia Italia being taken by Emanuele Pirro. After an embarrassing 1989 season, Ferrari brought in the highly regarded Alain Prost to replace 1988 Champion Gerhard Berger, a decision that would contribute to a double Championship for the Scuderia. The season would see fifteen drivers compete for seven different teams.
