Fritz Riess

Fritz Riess or Rieß (born 11 July 1922 in Nuremberg, died 15 May 1991 in Samedan, Switzerland) was a German racing driver. A double German sportscar champion and winner of the 1952 24 Hours of Le Mans with Hermann Lang, he decided to enter the 1952 German Grand Prix with three cars of his own name adapted from a Veritas RS. He failed to qualify, and soon thereafter, EMW purchased his operation. He was the original driver for their subsequent F1 entry, but he left after just one race. He made his final F1 appearance in 1954, driving for his friend Trod von Hoff.
