A moderately successful hillclimb and sportscar driver before and after the War. At the start of the Formula One championship, he drove for [[Ecurie Nationale Belge]] before moving to the expanded [[Alexander Racing Team]] along with [[Consalvo Sanesi]]. At the [[1950 Italian Grand Prix]], Yves finished fourth, scoring his only three points. After a difficult start to the 1951 season, things were looking up at the [[1951 British Grand Prix]], which Yves led for 14 laps. However, on lap 74, teammate [[Robert Manzon]]'s engine failed, spraying oil on the circuit at Maggotts. Yves lost control on the oil, was sent barrell-rolling and was ejected from the car. He died minutes later from severe head and neck injuries, his death coming just one month after that of [[Luigi Fagioli]]. |
