The Women's GT World Championship series, commonly known as WGTWCS, is a female-only high-class sports car racing series, in which only the best female racing drivers are allowed to compete.

The series is organized by the Women Drivers Association and regulated by the FIA. It features multiple grand tourer race cars, mostly based on production road cars and conforming with the GT3 (2014) and GT1 (2015 onwards) regulations, competing in two-hour races all over the world.

In 2014, all competing cars were performance balanced to make the vastly different GT1, GT3 and GTE cars artificially more equal. That rule was dropped for 2015, since all registered cars already fulfilled the official FIA regulations for the GT1 class.

Format

The Women's GT World Championship holds 20 races all over the world, with each event consisting of two practice sessions, one qualification and one race over a weekend. Qualifying involves a 105% regulation, which knocks out all contestants qualifying outside 105% of the pole-position time. In 2014, each team could change tyres as often as preferred (or needed) during a race, a rule that was also abandoned for 2015.

The points system ranges from 50 to 1 Championship point, with the top 14 finishers each race earning points.

With the rule changes in 2015, twenty manufacturers signed an entry to this series. Each manufacturer can only be represented by a single team, which enjoys full factory status and has to bring two identical cars to enter the championship. Single entries or entries with more than two cars are not allowed.
