Timo Fuchs (Born April 4, 1953 in Stuttgart, West Germany) is a German racing driver. He ran in various series from Formula One to the World Sportscar Championship. He also participated in the Dywa Grand Prix Series.

Open-Wheel Career

Timo Fuchs first entered international spotlight by signing for the nascent Dywa Series for the 1978 season. Driving for Scuderia del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna he suffered an injury at Imola and missed 1 round. He struggled to finish the race with the poor machinery, but won the Mugello round and placed 3rd at the season finale in Monza. He elected to not run in the following season, claiming the car to be "A total deathtrap, I would rather die in a Formula One car."

Fuchs ran congruently in Formula One for 1978. Driving for Centro Asegurador F1 with an old March chassis he failed to pre-qualify in all five attempts.

For 1979 he managed to replace Jan Lammers for the South African Grand Prix with sponsor from alcohol brand Gilden Kölsch. After failing to qualify and Ensign's sponsor threatening to pull sponsorship funding Fuchs was shelved in favor of Lammers.

Later in the season he self-funded a privateer entry for three rounds. Using Martini chassis he and Klaus Ludwig failed to pre-qualify for their two attempts. The team also planned to contest the Dutch Grand Prix before the event was cancelled.

Post-Formula One Career

While running in Formula One he also ran a privateer entry in the BMW M1 Procar Championship from 1979 to 1980.

After the collapse of M1 Procar Fuchs moved to Sportscars. Taking a contract with Kremer Racing he participated in the World Sportscar Championship in Group B and Group C, and regularly appeared at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In the 1990s Fuchs participated in the FIA World Touring Car Masters. For 1992 he entered the German Round in an owner-driver entry in preparation for a full-time drive in 1993.
