Formula One career
2011: Renault
Frijns started his Formula One career as a reserve driver for Renault in 2011, he was not maintained for 2012
2014-2017: Brabham
After a couple years away, Frijns would sign as Brabham's reserve driver for 2014. He would then be promoted to a full time seat in 2015 replacing Vitaly Petrov. He partnered four time champion James James Davies who was looking for a 3rd title in a row. The season would be a disappointment for Brabham as the car was nowhere near the championship winning pace they had the previous year. Frijns in his debut season would score 62 points finishing P16 in standings with a best race finish of 5th at the British Grand Prixs.
For 2016, Frijns would be partnered by Nico Rosberg as Davies retired from Formula One for the second time. The season proved to be a nightmare for Frijns who could only manage to score points twice, with two P10s at the German Grand Prixs which was overshadowed by Rosberg's P3 at the Cyprus Grand Prixs. Frijns finished P28 in standings.
Ahead of 2017, it was announced that Frijns would not return to Brabham. Despite this however, he was rehired to replace the injured Nyck de Vries at the Australian Grand Prixs, finishing P16 in race one while retiring from race two.
2019: Precision
Frijns sat out for 2018 before returning as a reserve driver for Precision in 2019. He returned to a race seat at the French Grand Prixs to replace Diego Álvarez Torrente who was injured in race one. Frijns took a shocking P4, beating out his teammate Jules Bianchi. Despite this drive, he was not retained for 2020.
2021: Loonmotor
Another year went by for Frijns without a race seat before being signed to the newly formed Loonmotor team for 2021, with Bradley Dagnall as his teammate. His first full time season since 2016 would be a nightmare however, as he and Dagnall were unable to score points. Frijns picked up a best finish of P12 at the German Grand Prix classified P25 in the championship, the second to last full time driver only ahead of his teammate.
2022: Dawson
