Patrick Gaillard (born 12th February 1952 in Paris, France) is a Formula One driver who drove for Osella in 1980.

Before Formula One

Patrick Gaillard was a late developer as a racing driver. After a slow start in Formula Renault, British and French Formula Three, his career gained momentum when he was signed to drive for Chevron Racing in 1978. His full-season European Formula Three campaign yielded two wins and third place overall behind Jan Lammers and Anders Olofsson. After some part-time campaigns in European Formula Two and endurance racing, Gaillard finally earned a Formula One shot in mid-1980.

Formula One Career

After Arsenio Matarazzo was banned from racing in the Monaco Grand Prix, Luciano Sighinolfi was instead paired with Gaillard for the famous race. In a high-pressure one-off opportunity, Gaillard acquitted himself well and came home in 14th place. This was Osella's best result in the entire World Championship season.
