Mitchell Macklin (born August 4, 1995 in Sydney, Australia) is an Australian racing driver best known for his stints driving for mentor Daniel Melrose at Melrose Racing Team in the F2RWRS and the IRDU Rejects Cup.

Early Career

Macklin first started karting at 10 years old in his home state of New South Wales before winning the Australian karting championship in 2007 and 2008. In 2009 he became one of the youngest ever drivers to start in the Australian Formula Ford Championship where he finished a credible 4th behind champion Nick Percat, Mitch Evans and Scott Pye, taking one race win a Phillip Island in the process. Macklin backed this up with a simply sublime performance the next season to be the runaway Australian FF champion which earned him a drive in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. At the same time he was picked up by Melrose Racing Team as a development driver. He didn't fail to deliver on expectations from the team as he finished 2nd in the series behind teammate Robin Frijns after a season long battle with Carlos Sainz Jr, son of Spanish rallying legend Carlos Sainz.

2012 was another watershed year for the young Australian as he drove in the FIA Formula 2 Championship as a two car effort alongside Michael Robertson, another aspiring Australian driver for the JLD Motorsport outfit as part of a deal with MRT. The pair of them quickly established their mark on the field as they dominated the series. In the end Macklin and Robertson were tied on points with Robertson ahead on countback but both of them had made their mark on the motorsport world. The next year Macklin was the runway F2 champion with an unprecedented 14 race wins over the course of the year.

F2RWRS - 2014-Present

During 2013, the F1 Rejects Council announced the formation of the Formula 2 Rejects World Race Series, the official feeder category for the Formula 1 Rejects World Race Series with MRT being the first team to announce their entry for the series with Macklin as their lead driver. Macklin was also entered in the Budweiser 500 in addition to the Fedex 100. In the F2 race, Macklin finished 3rd having spent the entire race battling Rosco Vantini and Giconi Okorie for that final podium position in what was a spirited drive for the Australian. However, the Bud 500 the next day wasn't so successful. After running in the midfield early on before a puncture after a collision with fellow debutant Alberto Cara put him effectively out of the running for the rest of the race.

2014 started off even better for Macklin as in the first two F2RWRS races he finished at the head of the field for both of them before his third win on the trot at the very wet French Grand Prix. The next 3 races proved to be more difficult for the Australian but he still put in 3 fantastic burn from the stern performances, very much like his mentor Melrose is world famous for, to finish in the points for all 3 of them, 2 of those finishes being on the podium. Two more disastrous races followed however with a race ending crash from the lead in Belgium before a messy performance in Hungary led to a 20 second penalty from the stewards for passing under yellow flags, dropping him from 11th to 13th
