Michael Cameron (born 23/12/1984 in Sunderland, England) is a British racing driver currently competing for Gulf M/Power Racing in the F2RWRS. He is notable for finishing third in the inaugural season of F3RWRS, including taking the pole position, fastest lap and the race victory in the first ever event. He is the younger brother of 2010 F1RWRS champion Gary Cameron.

Early Career

Cameron was a late starter in motorsport, only taking it up at the age of 25 when brother Gary was competing in the Formula 1 Rejects World Race Series. Inspired by his brother's success, Michael collected sufficient sponsorship to enter the Renault Clio Cup in 2011. Although it took him a while to get up to speed, his natural ability shone through later in the season and he won four out of the final six races before announcing his intentions to move into single seaters in 2012.

Cameron began the 2012 season in the British Formula Ford Championship and, despite a disappointing performance in the season opener, went on to dominate the early part of the season, taking six race wins and two other podiums in the first four rounds. However, with potential backers more inclined to support younger talent, his sponsorship dried up and he was forced to miss much of the remainder of the season. For 2013 Cameron was forced to go it alone and with some support from his older brother, along with other family members, raced in Formula Vee as one of the oldest competitors in the field. Unsurprisingly, given his 2012 Formula Ford form, Cameron totally dominated the series leading onlookers to question just how he wasn't higher up the motorsport ladder.

F3RWRS

Two events in the off-season of 2013 kick-started Cameron's rise through the ranks. The first was the inception of the F2RWRS and F3RWRS as feeder series for the already well-established F1RWRS, giving inexperienced drivers a direct route into one of the major single seater categories in world motorsport. The second was the buyout of the Prospec F1RWRS team by the Pemberton Group, led by Gary Cameron, one of the team's drivers at that time. Almost immediately, the team announced its intention to enter F3RWRS with Gary giving his younger brother the opportunity of a race drive.
