Louis Gérard

Louis Gérard (born 16 April 1899 in Arras, died 10 May 2000 in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer) was a French racing driver. Making his fortune by importing slot machines to France, he began his racing career at the age of 38 and became one of the leading French drivers from the immediate pre-and-post-War eras of motorsport. At the tail end of his career, he entered the 1951 French Grand Prix in his old Delage. He qualified for the race, but finished eight laps down. Faced with his own age and that of his car, he retired soon after. He died peacefully aged 101.
