Joey Alliot

Joey Alliot is an American racing driver. He drove for Ambrose-Milan Autosport in the inaugural season of the Prost Grand Prix Series.

Alliot was signed to drive for the Ambrose-Milan Autosport team in the Prost GP Series for the inaugural season. After the team missed the first round in Australia, Alliot captured the pole in Mexico. He drove away from the field, accumulating a nine second lead prior to retiring with a suspension failure in the closing laps. At the next race in Canada, he qualified in 3rd, behind the cars of Mike Stern and Rafael Verwest. He raced his way up to the lead, and at one point he commanded the field by 17 seconds. However, his race ended like it did in Mexico, retiring with 5 laps to go due to an engine failure. His teammate, Jacques Malenfant, won the race instead.

For the San Marino Grand Prix, Alliot started on the outside of the first row next to Dennis Mignolet. He was running in second place on the last lap, practically on the gearbox of Charlie Darrell when his engine failed on the final turn. He was classified 11th. In Spain, he qualified fourth, behind teammate Malenfant. The Spanish Grand Prix was his first race finish, coming home in fourth place and securing several points.

In the following race at Austria, Alliot qualified 8th. Once again, poor reliability would take him out of the race. Scotland would be much better for him. He qualified 8th once again, but this time managed to survive the race, finishing in third, only four seconds behind winner Dennis Mignolet.

Alliot qualified 10th for the British Grand Prix at Donington Park. His teammate had taken the pole. Early on he lost his front wing and was forced to pit for repairs. He eventually succumbed to mechanical issues and retired. The English Grand Prix was much better for Alliot. He qualified 10th again, but this time spun early on. The spin dropped him back to the back of the field, but in one of the greatest drives of the year, Alliot raced to within 5 seconds of race winner Volker Bromberger and finished on the bottom step of the podium.
