Joseph "Joe" James (born 23 May 1925 in Saucier, died 5 November 1952 in San Jose) was an American racing driver. He made his AAA début in the World Championship 1950 Indianapolis 500, finishing thirteenth. James would develop a reputation as a safe, if unspectacular pair of hands, regularly finishing races in the top ten. He was killed in an accident at San Jose at the age of 27.
