Royal Richard "Jim" Rathmann (born 16 July 1928 in Alhambra, died 23 November 2011 in Melbourne) was an American racing driver best known for winning the Indianapolis 500 in 1960. Racing under the name of his older brother (who in turn took the name of Dick Rathmann), he started racing in 1944 and made his AAA début in 1949. Competing in the 1950 Indianapolis 500 against a field of second-rate drivers and Europeans inexperienced in the ways of the Brickyard, Rathmann finished third.

After some attempts at NASCAR, Rathmann returned to the AAA Championship in 1952, entering with various frequency until 1963. During this time, he won three races, including the 1960 Indy 500, and scored eight podiums, five of them at Indianapolis. His lack of consistent entries prevented him from winning a national title, but he nevertheless took the runner-up slot in 1957. Following his final Indianapolis entry, Rathmann retired from motor racing.
