Leslie Eugene "Gene" Hartley (born 28 January 1926 in Roanoke, died 13 March 1993 in Roanoke) was an American racing driver. A very successful midget car champion, Hartley only rarely competed in the National Championship, aside from a full 1956 season in which he finished 19th. Relatively unsuccessful at Indianapolis, his first race was the World Championship 1950 Indianapolis 500, finishing in sixteenth position. He retired from motorsport in 1962 and was inducted in the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 1985.
