Frank Biela (born 2 August, 1964 in Neuss, West Germany) is a German racing driver best known for his exploits in Touring Car Racing and Sportscars.

WTCM

Biela made his World Touring Car Masters debut in 1989, when he was signed for the Works Ford team Zakspeed alongside Klaus Ludwig, Manuel Reuter and eventual champion Roland Ratzenberger. Biela finished the season in seventh place overall - having taken a single win at the Endurance round in Birmingham.

Biela continued with the team in 1990, with Kurt Thiim replacing the Mercedes-bound Ratzenberger. Biela had a strong start to the year, taking pole in the opening two rounds of the season and another win in the Sprint race in Nigeria. Biela took a further win in Pau which would prove to be his last of the season but a run of consistent results behind the dominant Reuter were enough to secure second in the World Driver's Championship at his second attempt.

A change of rules in 1991 saw the legendary Sierra RS500 be replaced with the Sierra Sapphire. Zakspeed retained Reuter and Biela but the new model was not a patch on the previous car - at least in the early stages.
