Formula Female World Championship

The Formula Female World Championship is a one-make series for open wheeled single-seater racing cars. It is organized by the Women Drivers Association.

Created as a development series for young female racing drivers, the Formula Female World Championship (commonly known as Formula Female) is held over 16 races all over the world. All drivers compete in identical single-seater racing cars, designed by Samantha "Sam" Robinson and built by Robinson Composites.

The Car

Named after current WDA president Deryn Pryce, the P222 chassis and survival cell is of carbon fibre and honeycomb composite monocoque construction. The car was designed to comply with the 2017 F1RWRS safety regulations, even though its optical design is heavily leaned towards single-seater designs from the early to mid-nineties. This was done on purpose to appeal to a wider audience.

The aerodynamics were designed to produce a high level of downforce, yet without losing too much front downforce when following other cars.

The Engine

The Ford Motor Company had built a special powertrain for F1RWRS in 2016, hoping the turbo ban would be revoked soon. These engines, dubbed the Ford R-TEC Twin Turbo, are now in use in the Formula Female World Championship, and it's rumored, the engine would be capable of producing well over 1.500 bhp, but it had to be trimmed down to 770 bhp for the inaugural 2017 Formula Female season.

The Ford R-TEC has been built as a pure race engine, with all its components designed for high strength and light weight. The turbocharger unit features roller bearings for improved response, with an external wastegate with highspeed closed loop pneumatic valve boost control.

Scoring system

For the 2017 season, the scoring system was 10-7-5-3-2-1 for the first six race finishers, thereby adapting the F1RWRS scoring system.
