Fabien Giroix
Fabien Giroix (born 17 September 1960, in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, France) is a French former racing driver.
WTCM
Giroix made his WTCM debut in 1988 with Volker Schmidt Racing in an independent Mercedes-Benz 190E. Giroix was a steady hand all season which saw him be picked up by BMW for the following season on a two-year deal.
Giroix spent the next two years at BMW Motorsport and continued his reputation as being a reliable driver. Giroix did not score any wins in his time at BMW but he'd finish the 1990 season third in Class C.
Giroix was let go by BMW and joined Courage Compétition's two car outfit alongside 1986 Formula One World Champion Guillaume Gauthier. Giroix raced a Mazda 323F in the series but the Frenchman severely struggled in the early stages. However, following an injury to Marc Hessel at Monza, Giroix returned to BMW Team Schnitzer for the final five rounds of the season. His first race back with the team at Brands Hatch saw him take his maiden win in the series.
Later Career
In the mid-2000s Giroix moved to Dubai and became a leading figure in the Middle Eastern motorsport scene - most notably as team principal of the Gulf Racing team.
