Daniel Cake (born May 15, 1991 on the Isle of Wight) is a British racing driver who made his F1 Rejects racing debut in the Warped Touring Car Series, replacing the banned Orestes Granicus at the Deep Forest Raceway round, and then drove for Gregg Racing from the next race onwards.

Personal life

Daniel was born in the small seaside town of Bembridge, on the Isle of Wight.

He first became interested in motorsports when his dad took him to Silverstone to watch the 1997 British GP. 6-year-old Daniel was lucky enough to get his autograph signed by his McLaren hero David Coulthard. Straight after the race, Daniel's future ambition was to become a Formula One driver.

Daniel passed his driving test on his first day in 2008, aged 17, and celebrated in style by doing drifts around the car park at his local theme park, Blackgang Chine.

Early career

Daniel took up karting in 1999, aged 8, and won the Isle of Wight Junior title the following year. He was so good at karting that he was quickly signed up to race in the British Touring Car Championship for the 2010 season, being one of the youngest drivers in the series.

He started off his BTCC career with a shock debut win at Thruxton from 16th on the grid, only to have the victory unfairly stripped after it was found out he sped in the pit lane. Daniel, not a big fan of losing, protested over the disqualification, but the officials wouldn't reinstate him. He was dragged from the circuit yelling and screaming. He lost his BTCC seat after the race, and his career was over before it even started.

Warped Touring Car Series

Daniel was drafted in as a one-race replacement for Orestes Granicus, after the Turk was banned from the Deep Forest Raceway round for dangerously striking Nicolas Vásquez. He scored a point on his F1R debut, finishing eighth.

He then became a permanent addition to the line-up from Seaside Route 765 onwards when Dish Cleaner Racing, along with its driver Tommy Watson, withdrew from the series. He finished eighth and scored for the second race in a row.
