A New Dawn - F1 Manager: 1994 Season
A New Dawn - F1 Manager 94 is the first season of the management series run by Collieafc.
Background
It is 1994 and it appears to be a new dawn for Formula 1. The big drivers who have dominated foe the last 10 years have left the sport. After Alain Prost announced his retirement in 1993, Ayrton Senna, finding that without the challenge of his arch nemesis made F1 lose meaning to him has decided to follow suit and call time on his career, while Nelson Piquet had already left at the end of 1991. Nigel Mansell decided to try out his hand at Indycars and in 1994 is about to embark on defending his crown.
As a result, F1 goes into the new season without any world champions on the grid. However, there is a raft of new contenders vying for the drivers title and this exciting new talent is sure to come to the fore over the course of the coming seasons. The traditional order of the teams at the top, although the same as last season, promises to be much tighter than before, due to the uncertainty of who are the new driver yardsticks.
At the back of the grid however, it is a different story. This season there has been a significant push to improve driver safety to compensate for the banning of driver aides. As a result, costs have skyrocketed and many teams finances are in a precarious state – many observers have noted that money is likely to win over talent when it comes to picking their drivers. It would not be a surprise if at least one team fails to make it to the end of the year. The one shining light is that there is an abundance of choice in the driver market. Whether all of them can cut it in F1 though is another matter.
