The second season of the Formula One Rejects Microprose Grand Prix Series was held in 2012, on the same circuits as the 1991 Formula One season. The reigning Drivers' Champion was HWNSNBM, and the reigning Constructors' Champions were Formula One Rejects.

Entrants
The field consisted of 19 teams, all entering two cars as per the new rules for 2012.
Team and engine changes
- United States Grand Prix Engineering changed their name to Team America F1. There is a certain phrase which can be optionally added to the team name.
- Monteverdi Onyx Grand Prix dropped their in-house engine for one built by Chrysler, a rebadged version of the Dodge used by Team America.
- Scuderia Coloni and Andrea Moda Formula merged to form Scuderia Andrea Coloni. The Judd V8 engine supplied to them and EuroBrun Racing was upgraded to a V10.
- Tony Fernandes took over Pacific Racing. Denied the use of the name "Lotus Team Pacific" by popular opinion of everyone who has ever had an interest in F1, the team principals of F1 Rejects jokingly suggested the team name should be changed to Fondmetal Team Malaysia. He took them seriously. The Ford Cosworth engine was traded for a more modern Renault.
- Automobiles Gonfaronnaises Sportives also dropped their Ford Cosworth engine for an arrow-formation W12 built by Moteurs Guy Nègre.
- Team Toleman have undergone extensive changes, discarding the Hart turbo engine for a Renault V8 as also supplied to FTM, and gaining title sponsorship from Scunthorpe United F.C.
- Scuderia Ferrari left the series.
- ATS Rial Racing, Stefan Grand Prix and Viking Racing were new teams for 2012.
- Toyota join the series as engine suppliers to Stefan Grand Prix.
Driver changes
- Fabrizio Barbazza moved from AGS to Monteverdi.
- Paul Belmondo moved from Pacific (now FTM) to Simtek.
- Kazuki Nakajima moved from Super Aguri to Stefan Grand Prix.
- Pierre-Henri Raphanel moved from Monteverdi to ATS Rial.
- Slim Borgudd, Johnny Carwash, François Hesnault, James Hunt, Roberto Moreno, Emanuele Naspetti, Nelson Piquet Jr., Ricardo Rosset, Ralf Schumacher and Gilles Villeneuve left the series.
- Marco Apicella (Super Aguri), Andrea Chiesa (Osella), Chris Dagnall (Toleman), Pedro Diniz (Forti), Þorvaldur Einarsson (Viking), Fairuz Fauzy (FTM), Rrrrrmmmnn Grrrrjjjjnnn (Toleman), Jan Magnussen (Viking), Allan McNish (Lola), Gabriele Tarquini (AGS), Jacques Villeneuve (Stefan), Volker Weidler (ATS Rial), Joachim Winkelhock (AGS) and Alex Yoong (Minardi) all joined the series.
