Violetta Cacciatori (born 25th of February 1956 in Bovensmilde, Netherlands) is a Dutch former motorcycle road racer who made occasional forays into four-wheeled racing.

Early Life

Violetta was the eldest of three children to a Javanese mother, Anindya, and an Italian father, Caio. Being both the child of immigrants and of mixed heritage in the pillared society of the Netherlands posed its fair share of difficulties, albeit by the standards of the time it was a lot smoother than in most corners of the world. Though she has always considered herself Dutch, she was kept firmly in touch with her heritage during her upbringing, and she speaks fluent Italian and Javanese in addition to Dutch and English. Growing up just a stone's throw away from the legendary TT Circuit Assen, her family always attended the Dutch TT each year, and she made it her lifelong dream to not only race in the TT, but to win it. When she was ten, her parents bought her a minimoto, which she fell off the first time she tried to ride it.

Formula One Career

Cacciatori's first outing in Formula one machinery came in 1978 at her home Grand Prix in the Netherlands, in a joint entry with her Italian cousin, Ottavia, using four year-old Marches powered by Renzo DFVs. Neither took the entry particularly seriously and predictably both failed to pre-qualify, though they were still faster than the Dywas. Three races later, at the Italian Grand Prix, the two cousins once more entered, with similar results. However, Violetta had the relatively meaningless distinction of being the fastest Renzo-powered car during pre-qualifying.
